Low Buy Gardening 2026 | What Went Wrong Last Year, Plans & Potato Reveals | #SSPC2025
Creator's Note
Seed potatoes are my kryptonite, can I resist buying more?
About this video
This year I’m doing a low buy gardening year and being much more intentional with what I grow and what I spend. So far the only thing I’ve purchased is a £3.99 bag of pick your own seed potatoes. My aim is to keep my spending in the garden this year under £10. I may need to buy some compost, and I’ll also be scouting local farms for manure to keep costs low and improve the soil. I share a short garden tour from last year while everything was still looking healthy, and talk honestly about where things went wrong. Last season was much drier, I struggled to keep up with watering, and I planted seeds straight into the ground rather than starting them in trays and potting on first. This year I’m focusing on growing what we actually eat, especially with having a second freezer so we can blanch and store vegetables for winter. At the end of the video I also share my potato reveals from last year, including the SSPC challenge and my Swift and Yukon Gold potatoes, footage I never ended up posting at the time. This is not about perfection or growing everything successfully, just about learning, using what I have, and enjoying the process a bit more this year. 📹 Watch Next: https://youtu.be/tpwS-CvBe6A 🏡If you’re new, I’m Lorna from The Monday Corner: millennial mum, cosy crafter, and lover of granny hobbies.
